Title: Quality of Life Social Engagement and Social Adjustment Among Unemployed Retired and Employed Post Retirement Professionals

Abstract: The number of elderly citizens seeking employment post retirement is increasing, there is still little knowledge about how post- retirement employment affects the quality of life of these citizens. It becomes an imperative job for the researchers, medical and health professionals, governmental policy makers to counter the ageing crisis by informing the society, spreading awareness about the potential burden of the ageing population and to find optimal solutions to include this gratis of the population in the hopeful future of the Nation. The study is an attempt on exploring and establishing the differences and the influences of the various variables under study namely: Quality of Life, Social Engagement, Social Adjustment, Retirement and Post- Retirement Employment. Exploratory empirical research is conducted with the use of quantitative methods of measurement used to gather information based on primary data. The study utilizes three standardized questionnaires to collect the primary data from a sample of 400 professionals consisting of 200 Unemployed Retired Professionals and 200 Employed Post- Retirement Professionals. Statistical tool of SPSS 26 has been used for the primary analysis of data. Primarily the results indicated the Quality of life of Employed Post- Retirement professionals was significantly better as compared to Unemployed Retired Professionals. Secondarily the findings suggested a significant difference in the Social Engagements of both the groups and that retired professionals possibly have a higher social engagement as compared to Employed Post- Retirement Professionals. Furthermore, the findings also reflect that there is a significant difference in the Social Adjustments of both the groups. Employed Post- Retirement Professionals had a significantly better social adjustment. Further the results also indicated a significant correlation among Quality of Life, Social Engagement and Social Adjustment of Unemployed Retired Professionals and Employed Post- Retirement Professionals. newline
