dc.description.abstract | This study focused on The Influence of Social Agents on the Mathematical Performance of the Secondary School Students . To achieve this, objectives and hypotheses were formulated. The research work adopted descriptive design and qualitative and quantitative analysis of data was presented. The sample of the study consisted of 450 secondary school students. The tools used for collecting data were inventory on social agents and mathematics performance test. The data collected was presented in frequencies and percentages and later subjected to chi-square and t-test analysis. The instrument was subject to reliability test and was found worthy to test what it is intend to measure. A pilot test was conducted where the tools were verified and reliability coefficient was measured. All the hypotheses were tested at 0.05 significant level. However all hypotheses were accepted except gender differences. The study revealed that agents of socialization have positive influence on the mathematical performance of the secondary school students. In the light of these findings it was recommended that all the social agents especially family, school and peer group should work collectively towards inculcating mathematical skills and knowledge. Recommendations are also provided for curriculum developers and teachers for improving and sustaining the mathematical interest of the students. newline | - |
