Abstract: | Renal transplantation number has increased steadily as the best possible treatment for End Stage Renal Disease as it confers less morbidity and mortality considerable cost savings in the long term and re establishes a relatively a normal lifestyle But even after successful RT patients exhibit varying degrees of deficits The improved dietary intake but with low physical activity poses higher risk of early mortality with functional renal graft Apart from reduced functional capacity muscle strength and Quality of Life impairments they were prone to have increased risk for fatigue Previous studies have reported improvement in the physical performance and Quality of Life but much lesser than age compared sedentary individuals with emphasis on the need for exercise training Generally exercise training programs were directed to improve the aerobic capacity Resistance training which improves the peripheral muscle strength muscle protein turnover and bone density has gained recognition in Cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs but not well studied in renal transplantation Thus the study on structured graded exercise training after RT is needed to understand the clinical utility of such graded training programs This Randomised Controlled Trial study was conducted in a Multispecialty teaching hospital after Institutions ethics approval The First time renal transplantation recipients with age of 18 to 65 years of both gender who gave written informed consent were allocated to either control or study group by Restricted Random sampling Patients with Vitals instability surgical complications acute renal rejection and pre existing neuromuscular deficits were excluded A structured graded exercise training protocol after Renal Transplantation was framed as per ACSM guidelines and expert opinion The contents of the protocol were validated and tested for clinical safety The control group received routine hospital care while the study group underwent supervised graded exercise training which included graded ambulation stre |
