Perhaps, it would newlinebe more appropriate to say what is not in Indian English Poetry? Indian English newlinePoetry is the treasure house of true Indian cultures, ethos and mythos. The newlinecolorful Indian life from one extreme to that of the other is placed and arranged newlinemasterly in Indian English Poetry. It is one of the most important literary newlinedevelopments in the subcontinent after colonization, which is an outstanding newlinesource of Indian English variety rich in depiction of Indian ethos, mythos and newlinesensibility. newlineIndian English Poetry has three phases of development: Imitative Phase, newlineAssimilative Phase and Experimental Phase (Jha, 2015). In the first phase, there newlineare a number of co-developments responsible for generating Indian English newlinepoetry including Henry Derozio, Michael Madusudan Dutt, Toru Dutt, B.M. newlineMalahari, S.C. Dutt and R.C. Dutt. Their writing was imitative and derivative of newlinetrue English poetry; even then their efforts paved a new path for Indian poetry in newlineEnglish by writing on Indian culture, history, myths and legends. The second newlinephase in Indian English poetry is the assimilative phase starting from around newline1900. The attainment of Independence knocked at the door of third phase of newlineIndian English Poetry called the Experimental Phase. This phase was very much newlinedifferent form the past two phases viz Imitative and Assimilative phases in the newlineapproach which opened the door to a new phase of poetic activity among the newlineIndian poets.
