Abstract: The caries process is multi-factorial in nature; involving a combination of factors including diet, a susceptible host, and microflora that interplay with a variety of social, cultural and behavioural factors. The risk assessment tool estimates the caries risk, identifies the primary etiological factors, provides an inventory of the patient s current preventive practices, and serves as a guide to select preventive procedures pertaining to an individual s needs. newline
