Abstract: newline Effective public policy, laws, and intervention strategies to prevent and reduce juvenile crime and violence require a solid knowledge base. Building a knowledge base requires a thoughtfully developed, comprehensive portfolio of statistical systems, research programs, and evaluation capabilities. newlineThe first chapter Introduction is an attempt to examine the basics about the Juvenile Justice System in India. In the sub parts of this chapter the researcher attempts to discuss the Juvenile Justice System A socio Legal Critical Study in Indian Perspective. newlineThe Second chapter is a detail study of Historical background of Juvenile Justice System. In this chapter the researcher attempted to explain the history and historical background of the juvenile justice system. newlineIn the third chapter the researcher highlights the various institutions designed for the juvenile justice system and juveniles in conflict with law and juvenile justice boards, observation or correction homes, special homes. newlineThe Fourth Chapter is based on the judicial approach before the juvenile justice system. The researcher has discussed the Indian judicial system and jurisdiction and powers of courts in India. Further the judicial efforts are also discussed in detail. newlineThe Fifth chapter is based upon the empirical study. In this chapter the researcher prepared a structured questionnaire containing open end questions, suggestion based questions as well rating questions, which was sent to different stakeholders. newlineIn the sixth and the last chapter, conclusively the research was started with the quest for solutions to resolve the issues involving in Juvenile Justice System in India. After the comparative and critical analyses of the concept of Juvenile Justice System in India and other countries, the researcher moves forward with some fruitful suggestions with regards to criminal justice.
