Abstract: Airports are places where English and other languages are widely used. newlineThey are places where people from different nationalities, speaking various newlinelanguages and varieties across to different places in the world. Thus, governments newlineare always aware of this important point that is the availability of different people newlinewho speak various languages and thus try to appoint qualified employees who are newlineproficient in more than one language. So, there are some standards for working in newlinethe airports one of such norms is that those who are to work in the airports have to newlinepass language proficiency tests. Among such employees are those who belong to newlinethe Ministry of Interior in general and to the Immigration section in particular newlinebecause they are in direct contact with the passengers from all over the world. So, newlinethey have to be proficient in different languages rather than their mother tongue. newlineThe dissertation in hand is entitled A Sociolinguistic Study of the Security newlineMembers Working in the International Airports of Yemen. It is an attempt to newlinehighlight the English language status among the security members working in the newlineinternational airports of Yemen. Thus, the current study tries to fulfil four newlineobjectives. newline1. To investigate the security members working in the international airports newlineof Yemen about their current level in English language and the factors that newlineinfluence it positively and negatively. newline2. To find out the variety of English used by the employees of the airports newlineand how much do they use it in their work. newline3. To examine the social factors that influence the English of the employees newlinein the international airports of Yemen. newline4. To find out some solutions that are supposed to help in developing their newlineskills in English. newlineTo achieve the above mentioned objectives, the researcher collected the newlinedata from three international airports of Yemen namely, Sanaa, Aden and Sayoon. newlineThe stratified random sampling method was followed to select a manageable newline(v) newlinerepresentative sample from the total population.
