dc.description.abstractWith the begining of modern era, new and rapidly improving technologies has transformed the higher education. Technology has the potential to revolutionize the traditional teaching and learning process. The main objective of this research is to analyzethe difference in academic achievement and level of aspiration attributed to teaching method (traditional and contemporary), type of institution (government-aided and self-financed) gender, and background of the students.To attain the objectives of the present study an Ex-post facto research design was used. T-test and ANOVA were used to analyze the data collected through inventories. A sample of 500 studentsstudying for graduation degree (250 from Government- Aided and 250 from Self- Financed) in Meerut District of Utter Pradesh was taken with purposive random method of sampling. Standardized tool, constructed by Dr. UshaJauhar was used for assessing level of aspiration, whereas academic achievement was measured in terms of average of the percentages achieved from matriculation to the recent class passed. The results of this study revealed that the level of academic achievement as wellas aspiration of students studying with contemporary method is significantly higher than those students studying with traditional method. Furthermore, finding showed that there is no significant gender difference with regard academic achievement among students studying with traditional method in government colleges, but this is not so for those studying in self-financed colleges. Academic achievement and level of aspiration was not found to be differed among rural and urban students, studying in government-aided colleges. Picture changed in self-financed colleges. Simultaneously a positive correlation was found between academic achievement and level of aspiration, but only in government-aided colleges, not in self-financed.
