Abstract: | The purpose of the study was to analysis the strategies and tactics used by the teams who reached up to the stage of Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Final during FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 which was held at India from 6th October to 28th October 2017. All the quarterfinal, semifinal and final matches were recorded through video recorder. The recorded videos of the matches were scrutinize and analyzed by panel of experts consisting three qualified coaches from the field of football. Videos are played in slow motions as per the needs of experts to analyze the strategies and tactics used by the teams in reference to shots on target, shots off targets, corner shots, assist goals, attempt by positions, throw in, heading, tackling, short pass, medium pass and long pass. Descriptive statistical technique was used to study the selected variables for Quarterfinal, Semifinals and Final stages whereas ANOVA was also used for Semifinal stage especially. The level of significance for ANOVA was set to Plt0.05. The result of the present study indicate that during Quarterfinal stage only those teams move ahead who had better passing ability, maximum ball possession and remained more offensive within the penalty area. During Semifinals matches England and Spain won their respective matches against Brazil and Mali respectively because of their strategically and tactical dominance over their opponents especially in shots attempt by position, top attacking, top defending, passes and length of passes. During the Final match England team played more effective and used maximum numbers of small and medium passes, more ball possession, and take maximum shots on target. Further the experts analysis indicate that England team was found more technically, tactically as well as strategically sound as compared to Spain. newline |
