Abstract: | In This Research, Uniplanar Compact EBG (UC-EBG) Structures Are Chosen Due ToIts Fabrication Ease And Low Cost FR4 Substrate Is Considered To Make It Cost Effective.Different Type Of UC-EBG Are Designed And Applied For WLAN, UWB And Multiband MIMO Antenna Applications For E And H Planes. Compact Spiro Meander Line EBG Is Designed For The WLAN Application And 42% Reduction In Edge To Edge Distance Is Achieved. Isolation Enhancement Of 19 Db In E-Plane And 11 Db In H-Plane Is Achieved. The H-Plane Isolation Is Further Reduced By Designing A Compact Comb-Shaped UCEBG,Etched Out In The Ground Plane And Adding A Metal Line Strip Between The Patches.Due To This Combination Of Compact EBG And Metal Line Strip, The Edge To Edge Distance Is Reduced By 38% And Reduces The Mutual Coupling By 25 Db. Meander Line EBG Is Designed For The UWB Application On Double Layer Using Vias, And Mutual Coupling Reduction By 1 Db To 14 Db For The Frequency Range 3.4 8 Ghz And 8 Db To 24 Db For The Frequency Range 8 10.6 Ghz Has Been Achieved. This Research Is Extended For Multiband Application And Multiband EBG Is Designed Using Cross And Comb Shaped Structure And Applied In The Ground Plane Of Multiband Antenna Operating At 5.5 Ghz, 7.5 Ghz And 10 Ghz. Isolation Enhancement Of 3.5 Db, 4 Db And 6.5 Db Is Achieved At 5.5 Ghz, 7.5 Ghz And 10 Ghz Respectively. Moreover, MIMO Antenna Parameters Such As Envelope Correlation Coefficient, Channel Capacity Loss Are Also Improved Comparedto The MIMO Antenna Without EBG Structures. The Proposed Four EBG Designsare Integrated With MIMO Antenna Application, Fabricated And Tested Using VNA And Anechoic Chamber. Simulated And Measured Results Are Found To Be In Good Match |
