Abstract: | The main aim of the research work to prepare extended release bioadhesive dosage forms (microspheres and microcapsules) of Glipizide (GLP) and Lornoxicam (LXM) which will deliver the drug with small doses over an extended period of time using natural excipients. newlineThe prepared formulation will be work for 24hours. The Natural excipients were used for this study was Gum dikamali, Dillenia indica and Abelmoschus esculentus. The gum newlinedikamali was collected and purified after that considered for standardization. The gum was standardized in terms of colour, newlinesolubility, identification test, swelling index, LOD, ash value, extractive value and various analytical parameters like FTIR, XRD and HPTLC study. The Dillenia indica and Abelmoschus esculentus was newlineused for the extraction pectin and standardized according to standard newlinemonograph. The pectin was standardized in terms of colour, solubility, identification test, swelling index, LOD, ash value, extractive value was and various analytical parameters like FTIR, XRD, HPTLC was studied and compared with pure pectin.The standardized value was newlineobtained within the acceptable limit according to standard pharmacopoeia. By knowing all the parameters, the above natural excipients were used for the preparation of extended release formulations and can be used as alternate to synthetic polymer in pharmaceutical industry. |
