Abstract: Integration of Renewable Energy(RE) sources as Distributed Generation newline(DG) is essential to address the increasing demand-supply mismatch. Though RE newlinesources are helpful in mitigating the disparity, they put tremendous burden on newlinegeneration scheduling; especially wind energy. The variations in wind energy newlineproduction forces utilities to deploy wind curtailment, thus hindering the motive for newlinerenewables. A solution to this is Demand Side Management (DSM), where demand is newlinemodified during grid operation in accordance with generation. Traditional Demand newlineResponse(DR) schemes were developed to reduce peak hour consumption by newlinescheduling consumer loads, and in return consumers were offered incentives. The newlineSmart Grid(SG) paradigm offers advanced communication system for monitoring and newlinecontrol. This fostered the development of an advanced DR scheme called as Demand newlineDispatch(DD), where demand is forced to follow generation in real time. newlineA DD strategy is proposed in this thesis to absorb the variations in wind power newlinegeneration. An operational framework for DD is established, which describes the newlineentities in DD and the information flow among them. DD strategy involves the coordination newlineof numerous Demand Dispatch Aggregators (DDA) at industrial, newlinecommercial and residential sectors. The DD strategy controls the connection and newlinedisconnection of schedulable loads called Dispatchable Loads(DL). The enrolment newlineand identification of DL are done through an Energy Management System(EMS), the newlineEMS developed incorporates a Load Control Unit(LCU) for control of DL. newlineFurthermore the EMS and LCU modules are capable of data exchange via cloud newlineservices. A Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO) based Aggregator Dispatch Share newlineAllocation(ADSA) is proposed, which computes the share of demand to be newlineadded/removed by each aggregator participating in DD. The algorithm selects DL newlinesuch that the bus voltage criteria are not violated and facilitates maximum renewable newlineenergy utilization. The ADSA proposed is evaluated on modified IEEE 118 bus newlinesystem, involving wind far
