Abstract: The Central theme of this research was to investigate the purpose of introducing Gramin Bank in 1975 and thereafter to analyze the performance of these banks in Uttarakhand Region Specifically the focus of this research was on certain parameters like their financial performance measures of service quality and the most important the level of satisfaction of the customers As with the passage of time and especially after demonetization traditional banking has transformed to modern banking services may it be rural area, semi urban area or urban area This research manages information, examination and elucidation of data collected through Primary and Secondary sources therefore the primary source of data collection has been collected through the customers of Uttarakhand Gramin Bank of Garhwal and Kumaon region with a sample size of 500 respondents This sample size had been further divided into 250 respondents from each region Regional area was further bifurcated into two districts from each region The collected data had been used to analyze and interpret the results using suitable statistical tools SPSS 22 version to generate effective results To access the association between the levels of satisfaction of the customers chi square had been applied and to compare the measures of service quality MANOVA had been applied. The findings clearly indicate that there are certain factors where Uttarakhand Gramin Bank was performing better in Garhwal region and there are certain factors where the bank is performing better in Kumaon region Human development Index reflects the social progress of the state and after the introduction of Uttarakhand Gramin bank there has been an overall development of the state the basic purpose of this research has been very clearly explained that the purpose of introducing these banks was not a failure but was rather a success as they have been surviving past many years and on the other hand have been growing newline
