Abstract: | In developing countries like India the general call for industrial newlinerevolution and renewal is urgent as we face profound issues of productivity newlineand competitiveness that require engineering solutions among others During newlinerecent years the changing pressures imposed by national growth diminishing newlineenergy supplies economics environment and safety concerns have strongly newlineaffected the design of overhead transmission line cables Many of the newlineavailable sites are quite remote due to the reasons of environmental newlineconsiderations and restricted energy sources There is an urgent need, not only newlineto reduce the cost of transportation of electricity but also to minimise the loss newlinewhile transmitting very high blocks of power Therefore we require the newlineconstruction of long high capacity high strength to weight ratio and highvoltage newlinetransmission line conductor cables with minimum power loss and newlinehigh safety newlineA stranded cable consisting of a steel center strand surrounded by a newlinenumber of aluminium wires is used to conduct electricity and is called as newlineAluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced ACSR electrical conductor A large newlinenumber of failures and accidents happen in mechanical electrical and civil newlineengineering areas due to cable failures The percentage of cable failures can newlinebe reduced by the proper analysis before selecting a cable for a particular newlineapplication Wind induced flexural vibrations are critical problems that affect newlinesafety and reliability of overhead electrical power transmission cables newline newline |
