Abstract: | This study aims to see the effect of meditation on selected psychological and newlinephysiological parameters. A number of studies have been done on meditation for newlineeducational and clinical purposes. Many researchers found that meditation improves newlinequality of life and shows positive impact on well-being, psychological state, many newlinepsychosomatic diseases and on physiological aspects also. Here in this study, the newlineobjective was to investigate the effect of meditation with respect to duration and newlinefrequency of meditation on selected psychological and physiological parameters. To newlinemeasure psychological parameters happiness and test anxiety was taken and newlinephysiological variables were blood pressure, heart rate, alpha and theta brain waves. newlineFor the study 45 boys aged 14 to 16 years were randomly selected from RKVM newlineSchool, Gwalior. These 45 subjects were divided in three groups; Treatment 1, newlineTreatment 2 and Treatment 3 group of 15 boys each. Treatment 1 group was given newlinemeditation training twice a day for 20 minutes in each session. Treatment 2 group was newlinegiven meditation training once a day for 20 minutes and Treatment 3 group was not newlinegiven any meditation training. The research period was of 8 weeks and the meditation newlinetraining was given 5 days a week. Data was collected before starting the training newlineperiod (0 week), during the training (4 weeks) and after the training period was over newline(8 weeks). newlineFor measuring the effects of meditation on the subjects different newlinequestionnaires and instruments were used to collect data. newline |
