dc.description.abstractIn the age of globalization, knowledge economy has been playing a key role. Engineering education is an engine of economy. Engineering colleges are power-houses generating knowledge. This is possible, if the faculty members are competitive, committed and striving hard for excellence. Unprecedented massification of Technical Education in newlineIndia needs strategic planning to meet the requirements of the day. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to find out the strategies and external factors that make a rural engineering college sustainable and successful. A strong dynamic cycle is found between the resources of an newlineinstitution. If an institution is reputed it will attract merit students and good faculty members. This in turn increases quality of students and faculty members through good results, good placements and good number of research and developments. This will further enhance the reputation of an institution. To enter this virtuous cycle, an institution must have significant financial resources, dedicated and committed human resource.
