Abstract: | The ultimate objective of drug delivery research is to ensure safety and efficacy without compromising patient friendliness. Often the patient friendly factor was breached due to physico chemical profile, stability, pharmacokinetics and frequency of administration of a drug. Orally Disintegrating Tablets [ODTs] are a dosage form vertical never compromises on patient friendly factor due to pleasant mouth feel and can be administered without water through peroral cavity.The challenge of ODTs is formulating bitter drugs due to unpleasant mouthfeel; certainly this problem shall be addressed through taste newlinemasking and eventually without interfering with pharmacokinetics of drug. The current research was experimented to taste mask the bitter drugs and successful pharmaceutical development as ODTs. The newlineadditional challenge is to develop a industrially feasible technology with enough mechanical strength ODTs without compromising on disintegration time and pleasantness. Hence the current research was focused on development and evaluation of co-processed excipient system to be suitable for diluent in ODTs with different bitter drugs. |
