There is a continuing need for fabrics that resist cuts and abrasions newlinewhich occur when a sharp edge of a knife a tool having a sharp edge or items newlinehaving sharp edges are encountered The level of cut resistance offered by a newlinefabric though is primarily determined by the type of fibre used is also newlineinfluenced by the structural arrangement of fibres in yarn and also by the newlinestructure of the fabric Though several techniques are available for production newlineof cut resistant yarns and fabrics friction spinning and wrap spinning offer newlineadvantages in production of technical yarns especially core yarns wrapped newlinewith a sheath of fibres to enhance functional characteristics newlineIn the present study a cut resistance tester and Cross directional newlinewrapping apparatus have also been developed Friction core spun yarns are newlineproduced from friction DREF II spinning system Friction core spun yarns newlineand cross directional wrap yarns are tested for the physical tensile and newlineevenness properties Fabrics made from above yarns are tested for the cut newlineresistance newlinePolyester Viscose core sheath friction spun yarns and cross newlinedirection wrapped yarns have been studied at different core sheath ratios The newlinepacking fraction of the sheath rich yarn is lesser than core rich yarns Cross newlinedirectional wrapped friction core spun yarns show a remarkable improvement newlinein the packing fraction newline newlineen_US
