Abstract: Groundwater is one of the valuable natural resources as well as a newlineprimary source of water supply for domestic industry and irrigation The newlineindiscrete pollution of groundwater has been increasing in a alarming rate newlinewhich is due to increase in population industrialization and agricultural newlinepractices in recent years For instance a famous prospering textile city in newlineSouth India namely Tiruppur lying in Noyyal River Basin is greatly in need newlineof innovative techniques for remediation of groundwater This place has high newlineTotal Dissolved Solids TDS problem because of the disposal of improperly newlinetreated dyeing effluents in an unregulated manner Therefore contamination newlineof groundwater is a widespread problem which requires huge investment for newlineits remediation Contaminant removal to clean up the aquifer is a technique newlinemost typically sought by members of the public who are affected by newlinegroundwater contamination problems newlineThe methods of overcoming such problems and identifying an ideal newlinepumping location for containment of contaminated plume and remediation are newlinean active area of research in the field of groundwater study Hence this study newlineis aimed to identify optimal location of pumping wells for containment and newlineremediation of contaminated plume using the Artificial Intelligence newlineOptimization methods namely Genetic Algorithm GA and Ant Colony newlineOptimization ACO The contaminated area Noyyal River Basin is taken as newlinestudy area and Pump Treat Inject PTI system is considered as remediation newlinetechnique newline newline
