This study was designed to evaluate the clinical characteristics in T2DM patients with newlineor without CVD/Stroke compared to healthy age-matched controls. newlineThis project employed blood and urine to evaluate a number of biochemical markers newlineand LPL PvuII, MTHFR C677T gene polymorphism. An increased level of HbA1c, newlinehsCRP, homocysteine malondialdehyde, microalbuminuria and decreased eGFR newlinelevels appears to contribute for the development of CVD and stroke in T2DM newlinepatients. The results also indicated the possible role of inflammation with CVD/stroke newlineevents in diabetic patients. Evaluation of biochemical markers in T2DM patients is newlineimportant for risk assessment of diabetic complications. The increased incidence of newlineT2DM worldwide may also lead to increase in the number of people with CVD and newlinestroke among T2DM patients. newlineRoutine measurements of blood and urine biochemical markers may play a crucial newlinerole to prevent or reduce the incidence of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in newlinediabetic patients. The gene polymorphism data related to LPL PvuII and MTHFR newlineC677T did not show any significance with the studied biochemical markers in T2DM newlinepatients, which could be due to smaller sample size in polymorphic study. Large newlinerandomized clinical trials may be required to conclude the significance. newline
