Abstract

Chapter I: Describes the general introduction about Prins type cascade cyclizations focusing new methodologies development and application to natural product synthesis, as a background that lead us to choose this reaction as key topic for our research. The brief review is discussed previous reports cited in the literature on development in this area for the stereoselective synthesis of wide range of tetrahydropyran and tetrahydrofuran derivatives, aim and objective of the research work. newlineChapter II: Describes the development of new synthetic methodologies for the stereo selective synthesis of 2, 3, 6 tri-substituted tetrahydropyrans and spiropyrolidine derivatives through Prins/Ene cyclization, which is further, divided into two sections. newlineSection A: This section describes A simple and expeditious synthesis of 2, 3, 6-tri substituted tetrahydropyrans through Prins/Ene cyclization using molecular iodine. newlineSection B: This section describes the domino Prins/Ene cyclization and Prins bicyclization for the synthesis of spiropyrrolidine derivatives. newlineChapter III: Demonstrates A novel domino cyclization for the stereoselective synthesis of indeno [2, 1-c] pyran and cyclopenta[c]-pyran derivatives. newlineChapter IV: Illustrates the sequential Prins/Pinacol strategy for the stereoselective synthesis of spiro-and#946;-tetralones. newline
