Abstract: The newlineword delinquency has been derived from the Latin newlineword delinquere i.e. away and linquere i.e. to leave, or newlineto abandon . Cyril Burt defines delinquency as occurring in newlinea child when his antisocial tendencies appear so grave that he becomes or newlineought to become the subject of official action . Friedlander says, newline Daelinquency is a juvenile misconduct that might be dealt with under the newlinelaw . C.B. Mamoria writes, The phrase juvenile delinquencyand#8223; may be loosely newlineused to cover any kind of deviant behavior of children which violates newlinenormative rules, understanding or expectations of social system. Juvenile newlinedelinquency is a form of deviant behavior because it involves the violation of newlinenorms by children and youth. It should be noted that many of the behaviors newlineidentified as juvenile delinquency are not criminal acts, but relatively trivial newlineforms of deviance. newlineThe Juvenile Justice Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2000, defines newline juvenile as a person who has not completed eighteenth year of age . newlineHowever, delinquency is the legal term for antisocial acts committed by newlinejuveniles. Delinquency is unwelcomed action, omission or moral behavior of a newlinejuvenile which is socially not permitted in any society. Generally, it means that newlineif the child fails to meet certain social obligations anticipated from them by the newlinepeople, then he is considered to be delinquent. The problem of juvenile newlinedelinquency is one of the complex social problems with which all societies are newlineconfronted. Itand#8223;s magnitude in modern times has been consistently on increase in newlinedeveloped and developing societies. This is largely due to the fact that the newlineforces of rapid social change in modern times have shaken the fundamental newlinebasis of social order. Even a well knit, compact and cozy family unit is newlinebelieved to be shaken by these forces.
