The purpose of the study was to study the effect of personality traits, organizational role stress on work life balance and work-family boundary ambiguity among IT and ITES employees. The study also examined the interaction of gender with the nature of industry employed on work life balance and work family boundary ambiguity. The study was conducted on 280 employees working in various IT and ITES organizations in Mumbai. The sample was selected through purposive sampling. Regression, correlation and independents samples t test were used as statistical techniques. Multiple Regressions were conducted to test the relationship between the predictors (personality characteristics and organization role stress) and the criterion (work life balance and work family boundary ambiguity). Findings indicated that there is a positive relationship between dimensions of organizational role stress and work life balance, work family boundary ambiguity. No gender differences in work life balance and work family boundary ambiguity were observed among the IT and ITES professionals. This research found evidence of personality traits and organizational role stress in predicting work life balance and work family boundary ambiguity. The implication is that balance increased well being and imbalances creates conflicts between roles and hence employees with higher work life balance are valuable for the organization employed, as they are likely to contribute to the fullest potential .Significance of the findings for designing corporate policy, programs and future research was noted. newline
