Abstract: | Experience gained from the use of conventional concrete led to the newlinedevelopment of new materials The combined use of silica fume as newlinesupplementary cementing material and superplasticizer in concrete leads to newlinethe development of high performance concrete with enhanced durability newlineAddition of fibers to high performance concrete high strength concrete newlinetransforms the material from a brittle to a comparatively ductile one thereby newlineenhancing the engineering properties of concrete Steel fibers have distinct newlineadvantages over other types of fibers due to their high elastic modulus and a newlinestrong bond with the surrounding cementitious matrix In view of the above newlinesteel fiber reinforced concrete SFRC is increasingly used day by day as a newlinestructural material and has gained acceptance in several infrastructural and newlineindustrial applications A critical review of literature has revealed that studies newlineon high performance concrete incorporating steel fibers are rather scarce newlineAn attempt has been made in this study to investigate the role and newlinecontribution of steel fibers on the various static and dynamic impact newlinemechanical properties and durability properties of high performance concrete newlineFurther, the behaviour of high performance steel fiber reinforced concrete newline HPSFRC plates under in plane and transverse loads has also been studied newlineSilica fume crimped steel fibers and a commercial superplasticizer newlineof sulphonated naphthalene formaldehyde condensate were used in this newlineexperimental investigation newline newline |
