Abstract: Organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) are significant constituents of electronics, with integral advantages of organic molecules. In contrast to inorganic electronic materials, newlineorganic electronic materials have superior flexibility, light weight, low processing cost and compatibility with many substrates. OFETs are ideally utilized in large displays and radio frequency identification (RFID) tags. In addition, owing to their stability and mechanical newlineflexibility, they are useful in sensors, as electronic watermarks on banknotes and as wearable electronics. Prodigious improvements have been made in the fabrication style of devices and newlinein the synthesis of proficient organic semiconducting molecules. Solution processing techniques, such as spin coating, drop casting, inkjet printing are unquestionably easy and economical way to produce crystalline films because of their processability under ambient conditions. However, controlling the crystallisation to reach ordered thin film remains as the challenge for research. Among many small molecules, triarylamines (TAAs) are studied for their hole-transporting nature and used as components in different devices. TAA possess low ionization potential of 6.80 eV, signifying its strong electron-donating ability. Molecules with different architectures are constructed using TAAs are employed in optoelectronic devices due to their good charge transporting and emissive nature. This thesis mainly focuses on the molecular design, synthesis and characterization of unsymmetrical triarylamines towards OFET application by solution processing methods.
