The objective of the present study is to develop a model for optimum use of water newlineresources of Mahanadi Reservoir Project Complex which is a multipurpose multireservoir newlinesystem. The system selected has a set of four reservoirs having municipal newlineand industrial requirements at the highest priority, followed by irrigation demands. In newlineorder to develop model for optimum utilization of water resources of the Mahanadi newlineReservoir Project Complex the implicit objectives associated in the present study are newlineas follows: newline1. To develop a suitable Rainfall-Inflow correlation for basin of reservoirs of newlinethe system. newline2. To develop a suitable model for operation of reservoirs of MRP Complex newlinefor optimum use of the water resources of the system and consequently to newlinedevelop rule curves for reservoir operation. newline3. To evaluate the performance of the model by comparing the results with newlinethe study reported earlier. newline4. To develop strategy for utilization of the spill-water from the system. newline5. To explore the possibility of increasing the irrigation potential of the newlinesystem. newlineFor multi-reservoir operation problem simulation technique is very useful for newlineanalysis. As the MRP Complex is a multi-reservoir system, it has been decided to use newlinesimulation technique for finding the optimum way of using water resources of this newlinesystem. Simulation software MIKE BASIN (2009) has been used for analysis in this newlinework. newlineDifferent simulation models have been constructed and run for operation of reservoirs newlineof MRP complex. To check the efficiency of models the annual deficit between newlinedemand and supply has been computed for each model. The model having the least newlinevalue of deficit will be the most efficient model. The results of efficient simulation newlinemodel have been compared with the results of earlier reported optimization model. newlineThe results of the efficient model are very close to the results of the optimization newlinemodel, hence this model is suitable model for MRP complex. The contribution of the present study is successful application of Simulation Model newlineMIKE BASIN for optimu
