Abstract: Amongst the drugs belonging to group of statin, Raspberry ketone is the newest synthetic drug having anti-hyperlipidemic activity which occurs in form of tablets in market. But it suffers the problem of low bioavailability less than 20% due to penurious water solubility, imperceptive rate of dissolution and unchanged excretion of about 80% drug in faeces. newlineThe aim of present study was to prepare and characterize raspberry ketone loaded nanoemulsion system to improve the oral bioavailability. Oil was selected on the basis of drug solubility because drug load depends on the solubility of drug in the oil. Solubility of raspberry ketone in various oils (Sefsol 218®, olive oil, linseed oil, vitamin E, almond oil and capmul MCM), surfactant (tween 20, tween 60, tween 80, Solutol HS), co-surfactant (lauroglycol 90, propylene glycol, propylene glycol 400, Transcutol P) was determined. Pseudoternary phase diagrams were plotted to identify the ratio of surfactant and co-surfactant required to formulate nanoemulsion. newlinePrepared formulation became characterized by means of polydispersity index (PDI), droplet size, refractive index, percent transmittance, zeta potential, viscosity, exterior (surface) morphology utilizing transmission electron microscopy (TEM), in vitro drug release study, pharmacokinetic studies and stability studies. newline newline
