dc.description.abstract | Regional Novel is a novel describing people and landscapes of a particular area, newlinewhich can be imaginary or real. Regional novels are not only written in England and newlineIreland but many Indian writers in English and vernacular choose some specific newlineareas for their novels. This research plan studies regionalism in the selected novels newlineof Ram Sarup Ankhi and Phanishwarnath Renu. Both the writers are from two newlinedifferent regions of India. Ram Sarup Ankhi belongs to Malwa region of Punjab, and newlinePhanishwarnath Renu belongs to the Eastern Bihar region. This research is a newlinecomparative study of the novels of both the writers from different perspectives, such newlineas representation of women, farmers, socio-cultural background, political and newlineeconomic dimensions of both the regions and linguistic aspects as well. Novels of newlineboth the writers portray the life style of the people in the regions of Malwa and newlineEastern Bihar. Both the regions have their own culture, norms and economic newlinestructure. With the comparison of social, economic, cultural and political structure, newlinethe research work analyses the causes of various problems in both the regions newlinethrough these selected texts. Sociol, economic, political and cultural change was a newlinevery big issue in nation after independence and through the comparison of these newlinetexts, this work is able to ascertain the change in different parts of country. In Bihar newlineand Punjab, the issues like Caste and gender are treated in different ways. Through newlinethese texts, the present study compares the situation of these issues in India as well newlineas the victimisation of Dalits and women in different regions. newline | |
