Abstract: | Native Dairy wastewater (DWW) degrading microbial isolates of winter and summer season were isolated and were used both in free cell and immobilized form. Working parameters like inoculum size, age, pH, temperature and dilution rate were optimized for each isolate. After getting optimized working conditions, treatment was carried out under both aerobic and anaerobic conditions. With most efficient microbial isolates consortia were formulated on the basis of their physico chemical reduction potential, intra and interkingdom interactions and inoculum size. Consortium set D reduced COD and BOD of DWW by 89 and 78% respectively. After conforming dairy wastewater degrading capabilities of microbial isolates they were identified by their 16s and 5.8s rDNA sequences as Serratia marcescens (E3), Stenotrophomonas maltophilia (E5), Brachybacetrium muris (E11) and Cunninghamella echinulata (F5). To conform their pathogenicity antibiotic disc diffusion assay was performed using commonly prescribed antibiotics. newline |
