Abstract: Prior supplementation of probiotic L. rhamnosus MD14 along with celecoxin entrapped guar gum nanoparticles to animals administered with DMH for six weeks improved the gut microbiome, body mass and hepatophysiolgy, decreased preneoplastic lesions and fecal pH. At molecular level, the supplementation resulted in decreased pro-carcinogenic markers (K-ras, and#946;-catenin, NFand#954;B, COX-2) resulting into down-regulation of both inflammatory and angiogenic markers (iNOS and VEGF) along with up-regulation of p53 that in turn may have enhanced apoptosis ultimately abating the colon carcinogenesis. Thus it can be concluded that such biointerventions can be beneficial for individuals highly susceptible to colon cancer but the results need to be clinically correlated. newline
