Abstract: | The trust of portable nodes in the mobile ad hoc network is newlineconsidered as the potential factor that needs to be investigated for newlinefacilitating predominant network performance. The presence of selfish newlinenodes intentionally influences the network performance and trust is newlinedegraded by the non-cooperative behavior that does not forward data newlinepackets to their neighborhood cooperative mobile nodes. The selfishness newlineactivity of the mobile nodes minimizes the trust of the mobile nodes by newlinedropping a considerable number of data packets in the network. The newlinesignificant dropping of data packets by the selfish node introduces huge newlinedata overhead with increased latency and energy consumptions by newlineincreasing the number of retransmissions. These selfish nodes reduce the newlinepacket forward activity depending on its own energy level for newlineconserving its energy in order to be active in the network. The main newlineobjective is to enforce the efficient detection and isolation of selfishly newlinebehaving mobile nodes from the network. newlineIn this work, enhanced techniques are jointly implemented for newlineenforcing effective and efficient detection and isolation of selfishly newlinebehaving mobile nodes from the network. At an initial, A Skellam newlineDistribution Inspired Trust Factor-based Selfish Node Detection newlineiv newlineTechnique (SDITF-SNDT) is proposed and it initiates the process of newlineselfish node detection by determining the mean packet deviation through newlinewhich the standard deviation and variance is estimated for computing newlineSDITF. This SDITF computation aids in reliability estimation of nodes newlinein order to categorize them into selfish and cooperative. The simulation newlineexperiments conducted for the proposed SDITF-SNDT approach newlineconfirmed excellence improvement in packet delivery rate and newlinephenomenal minimizations in energy consumptions under increasing newlinemobile nodes. As a Consecutive work, A Bates Distribution Inspired newlineTrust Factor-based Selfish Node Detection Technique (BDITF-SNDT), newlineGwet Kappa Reliability Factor-based Selfish Node Detection Technique newline(GKRF-SNDT) and Extended Hyper Geometric Trust Factor-Based newlineMarkov Foresting Scheme (EHGTF-MFS) are proposed for predominant newlinedetection of selfish behavior by investigating multiple level of factors newlinethat contribute towards effective selfishness detection. newlineThese proposed approaches also potent in enhancing the detection newlinerate of selfishness through the multi-perspective analysis of each newlinemonitored mobile nodes forwarding characteristics in benefits of the newlineother interacting mobile nodes. The experimental investigations of the newlineproposed approaches gives on an average by 16% and 14% superior newlineperformance compared to the prior selfish node isolation approaches. newline newline |
