Psychological Determinants of Social Freedom of Women

Abstract

Several Indian investigators have shown that in recent years roles, functions and status of Indian women have undergone some remarkable changes. newlineThe term ego strength refers to the strength of the ego in terms of its share of available psychic energy. The stronger the ego, the greater the resoluteness of character. Dependence proneness is a behavioral construct which refers to a category which may be applied to many different kinds of substitutable responses such as asking for help, attracting the attention of others. Emotional maturity is a process in which the personality is continuously striving for greater sense of emotional health, both intra-psychically and intra-personally. Religiosity refers to involvement of participation in religion. But some psychologists use this term to denote a high degree of religious involvement; it properly refers to a continuum of degree of participation in religious rituals and practice. newline The aims of the theses is to measure the impact of ego-strength on women s social freedom, to measure the impact of dependence proneness on women s social freedom, to establish the impact of religiosity on women s social freedom, to measure the impact of self-confidence on women s social freedom and to assess the effect of emotional maturity on women s social freedom. To prove these aims these hypotheses have been formulated. Ego strength will have positive effect on social freedom of women, Dependence proneness will have significant effect on social freedom of women, Religiosity will have negative effect on freedom of women, Self-confidence will have significant impact on social freedom of women and Emotional maturity will have significant impact on social freedom of women. newlineThe main findings of the theses are Ego strength does not affect social freedom of women, Dependence proneness has impact on social freedom, Self-confidence has no impact on social freedom, Religiosity has no impact on social freedom and Emotional maturity has no impact on social freedom. newline newline
