Abstract: Cloud computing is a one of the most evolving paradigm comprising of constellation newlineof interconnected parallel and distributed resources which are dynamically distributed to newlinethe customer as a service on the basis of SLA (Service level agreement) established newlinebetween the customer and the service provider. The model is an innovative deployment newlinearchitecture comprising of several elements such as grid computing, service oriented newlinearchitecture, utility computing, resource virtualization, autonomic computing, service newlineontology and modelling. The layered architecture of services provided by cloud includes newlineSaaS, PaaS and IaaS which include several benefits such as broad access network, newlinescalability and rapid elasticity, measured services etc. The benefits of cloud attracts the newlinecustomer to outsource their data for storing and sharing it. However the major threat newlinewhile outsourcing data on cloud is that the owner loses his control on his critical data. newlineDuring the last few years lots of research work is done to ensure the confidentiality, newlinesecurity and privacy of the data is still a significant research area attracting attention newlinefrom both academia and industry. newlineThe thesis first addresses the privacy and security concern of data aiming which we newlinehave proposed and implemented a novel hybrid approach which involves symmetric and newlineasymmetric data encryption algorithms. For encrypting the data, we suggested optimal newlineand efficient key generation using Genetic algorithm (GA), further a proficient and newlinesecure re-encryption method is used for ensuring the security of data in unreliable cloud newlineenvironment. The fundamental idea of designing the framework is to have an optimal newlinesecurity of the data with minimal time taken for the encryption and decryption of data. newline
