dc.description.abstract | Samskara originates from the Sanskrit words, Sam , Kr and Ghan which when put together, gives it a complete meaning. Literally the samskara signifies to make or assemble together. But different meanings have been attached to this word alone by the Vedas, Smritis and the Sutras. But in simple, samskara can be used to accommodate all the acts and ceremonies that had been prescribed by the religious texts for a householder, specially recommended by the Grihyasutras. But the significance and functions of the Samskara are what make it yet more important since ancient times. Samskaras mark every important state of Human life, right before the birth and encompasses through the death. newline | |
