T newline Hyperlipidemia characterized by an elevation of lipid profile and lipoproteins in the blood. We have utilized 30 adult albino rats of Wistar strain weighing 165-215 grams to study the possible therapeutic role of Eclipta Alba on the reversal of alteration induced by High fat diet-induced hyperlipidemia in hepatocellular degeneration. The rats divided into five groups, and each group consists of 6 animals. The control group was given standard rat chow and the experimental groups (group-II Fed with High fat diet; group III- Fed with High fat diet and treated with Eclipta Alba for 1 week; IV- Fed with High fat and treated with Eclipta alba for 2 weeks; V- Fed with High fat diet and treated with Eclipta alba for 3 weeks) were given for a period of 56 days in group I and II animals; 63 ,70 and 77 days in group III, IV and V animals. All the animals were utilized on the last day of the experiment to study lipid profile and Liver function test, morphometry and histopathological changes in the liver. HF diet followed by roots of E. Alba treated group animals showed less fat deposition and regeneration of Hepatocytes. Furthermore minimal damage observed in the parenchyma of the liver on histopathological examination, and there was also a significant recovery in biochemical parameters of the liver in Animals fed with HF diet followed by E. Alba. Our study reveals that long term administration of Eclipta Alba has a therapeutic effect against hyperlipidemia treated with High fat diet and its analogues in the liver of experimental models and mechanism of actions yet to be evaluated by using different methods. newline newline newline
