Structural durability depends upon the strength of finishing materials. Researchers are investigating various ways to improve the strength of cement mortar. Various admixtures are added for enhancement of different properties of mortar such as: thermal insulation, water permeability, compressive strength, tensile strength, chemical resistance, freeze and thaw resistance etc. Admixtures are experimented with mortar such as; styrene butadiene rubber (SBR), acrylic, epoxy etc. and nano materials like nano calcium, nano titanium oxide, nano ZnO, Alumina etc. Some pozzolanic materials are also tested with cement mortar such as: fly-ash, rice- husk-ash, silica fume, blast furnace slag which increases the freeze and thaw resistance and durability of cement mortar. newline-
