There has been a shortage of trained cyber crime investigators. These have been delays in receiving reports due to a huge backlog. The general public awareness campaign has been required, using all possible means, for promoting cyber security. Police must also use various sections of the I.T. Act and I.P.C for effective preventive and detection of cyber crime. Some of the useful provisions have been Section 69, 66A and Cyber Café Guidelines 2011, Police must take lead in Issues connected with cyber crime in coordination with various agencies, as it has been an only agency that can investigate and prosecute a cyber-criminal under the I.T Act. As per the I.T. Amendment Act, 2008, Cyber Crime can be investigated by officers of and above the rank of Inspector of Police. However, the simple and traditional crime investigation also requires a lot of digital support these days. Hence empowering the entire police department in cybercrime investigation has been compulsion in the present-day world. |
