dc.description.abstractRitwik Ghatak was one of the renowned directors ever. His movies share a special place in the world of Indian cinema. His movies are inspired by the scars of partition and social circumstances. The various film movements and film theories, affiliation with revolutionary movement and concern towards society forced Ritwik Ghatak to make films about men and women of his country. Ritwik Ghatak films compel us to think about the larger society and their sufferings. The pain and reality depicted in his films are faced by people at ground level. There are no heroes or villains in his films rather they are simple common man struggling in life to survive. The objectives of the research study are: 1. To study the representation of pain and reality in Ritwik Ghatak s films 2. To study the human values and sufferings of the characters of Ritwik Ghatak s films 3. To investigate the connection between Ghatak s ideological beliefs and their application in his films This is the descriptive study and qualitative content analysis of the trilogy films of Ritwik Ghatak has been done. The three films selected for the purpose of the research are Meghe Dhaka Tara, Komal Gandhar and Subarnarekha. The parameters of the analysis are Direction, Ideological perspective, Music, Editing, Rural and urban settings, Characterization. These three movies have will be analyzed scene by scene on the basis of these parameters which include newlinevii newlinevisual, audio and analysis of the films. The films are based on the partition of Bengal. The films are portrayal the life of refugees after the partition.
