Abstract: | India has seen an unprecedented aviation growth in the last decade. Government policies, advent newlineof Low-Cost Carriers (LCC), burgeoning middle-class citizens, safety and security are some of newlinethe major reasons for this growth. The airports are one of the biggest contributors in espousing newlinethis growth. Airports have been the monopolistic interface between airlines and passengers and the newlinegrowth of aviation in India, is closely interlinked to the performance of airports as the sole newlineservice providers with no substitutes. Performance is linked and can be managed well based on newlinethe perception of all the stakeholders of airports. Once the focus areas for performance is newlinedescribed and decided, by stakeholders, the performance can be better. Performance of airports newlinebecomes necessary in cases where to support the growth of aviation, there would be more than newlineone airport in a geographical area as we see in USA and Europe. In that scenario, better newlineperformance will help an airport face the competition amongst airports. newlineThe objective of the proposed work is to perform an investigation for identifying the perceptual newlinefactors leading to the airport performance. The research work makes an attempt to identify the newlinestakeholders of airports and based on their perception identify the factors which influence the newlineperformance of airports. The study is carried out on 689 participants out of whom 370 are newlinepassengers, 165 are pilots and 154 are aviation managers. The finding of the study exhibits that newlinethe performance of the airport has commercial as well as aviation regulatory connotations. As a newlinepart of this strategic growth plan, the airport has to understand its strengths and weaknesses and newlinechalk out a plan best suited. The factors defining the airport performance will give it a finite road newlinemap for progress and help excel in a competitive environment. newline |
