Abstract: Looking in the prospect of the cellular communication , the topic chosen for the present study is Investigation on channel capacity of cellular communication network . The research has been concentrated mainly on the channel capacity .The whole thesis can be mainly divided in to four parts which is as follows with observation newline1.Study of system capacity of three cellular systems i.e. FDMA, TDMA and CDMA in this we have studied about all three systems. newline2. Capacity comparison among three cellular systems :we investigate the cellular capacity of mobile communication system i.e. FDMA, TDMA, CDMA based systems. It is found that the capacity of CDMA system is approximately twenty times of FDMA and four times of TDMA hence CDMA is most Band efficient multiple Access technique . newline3. Analysis of three cellular systems : In this analysis is done for CDMA based broadband system and It is found that as value of Eb/N0 (Energy per bit/ Interference power/ hertz ) increases C/I (Carrier to Interference ) ratio also increases for CDMA system and as there is a increase in value of Eb/N0 the total number of channels /cell ( Capacity of CDMA cell ) decreases for both i.e. with and without Power control. It is also concluded that with power control capacity of system increases compared to without Power control for same value of Eb/N0 .It is observed that as value of Eb/N0 increases continuously the channel capacity with power control decreases but this decrease is slow as compared to with out power control . Error Probability is one of the major parameter that fixes Channel Capacity. It is found that BPSK has better error characteristics than QPSK . It is also found that bandwidth requirement In Delta modulation is N (length of code= 8 ) times less than Pulse Code Modulation ( PCM ) .i.e. required bandwidth for given system for 24 and 96 number of channels are 1.53 and 6.14 MHz (PCM ), 0.192 and 0.768 MHz ( DM ) respectively.. it is observed that OFDM- CDMA has better performance than DS-CDMA . newline4. Optimization of system capacity of
