Abstract: | Lalmonirhat, a border district of northern Bangladesh is a part of Rangpur newlinedivision. The history of the freedom fighters of Lalmonirhat district hasnot been newlinetaken up for serious research. Bangladesh was divided into 11 sectors for the newlineoperation of the Liberation War. Lalmonirhat was under the Sector 6; whose newlineheadquarter was PatgramBurimari (Hasar Uddin High School). Many a books have newlinebeen published on the Liberation War of Bangladesh but none of them wrote the newlineheroic history of Liberation War of Lalmonirhat district and the sector 6. Some newlinewriters, however, have mentioned about it in their works. Although there are many newlinemagazines, journals, notes etc. focused on this issue. Therefore, the history of the newlinecontributions of the freedom fighters of Lalmonirhat district, in my view should be newlinebrought to light, for further researches on the history of liberation war and cultural newlinehistory of Bangladesh. newlineIn ancient era Lalmonirhat was a part of Pragjyotish kingdom of Kamarupa. newlineAccording to the Mahabharata, Bhagaduttawas the king of that region. He was killed newlineby Arjuna. His descendants ruled the kingdom up to 300 CE, subsequently; the newlinedescendants of Pushyavarman ruled till 650 CE and kings of salastambha dynasty newlineruled till 1000 CE. Thereafter, the Kamarupa kingdom was divided into two parts newlineKamarupa and Kamata. Kamta State was a part of the area of North Bengal and newlineMymensingh district; the capital of which was Guwahati. newline |
