dc.description.abstractBelt is main component of belt conveyor system. Sudden rise in tension within newlinetransient condition of starting and stopping, results in belt failure and structural newlinedamage. It is difficult to measure these stresses and hence their presence might go newlineundetected. Main reason of belt failure is excessive stretch occurs during starting of newlinethe system. Belt elongation is an evident quantity for these stresses. In this research newlinework, Conveyor belt has been considered as series of lumped mass parameter and the newlinesegment was assumed to be a viscoelastic unit. Equation of motion for a segment has newlinebeen developed by Lagrange s approach and by simulation technique (Simulink®) newlinethese equations have been evaluated for dynamic quantities. Five belt conveyors have newlinebeen investigated for dynamic analysis of transient stretch occurs in Polyester Nylon newline(EP) fabric belt. Starting condition of fully loaded belt has been taken as worse newlineoperating condition. Dynamic parameters during transient starting vary to its peak at newlineinitial time duration. Variation of acceleration, velocity and displacement analyzed for newlinedifferent belt conveyor systems. Dynamic belt stretch has been formulated in terms of newlinedisplacement response of conjugative belt units with respect to time. Simulation result newlineshows that the maximum dynamic stretch developed in transient condition is less than newline2% of the total belt length which comprises standard values specified for the system. newlineIn addition, this investigation extended for development of mathematical model for newlinetransient peaks of belt stretch variation during full load starting process of belt newlineconveyor. Five belt conveyors data has been used for mathematical modeling. A newlinerelation established between belt stretch value and thirty-eight independent input newlinevariables which includes; geometrical, material and process specifications of belt newlineconveyor system. Mathematical model has been established by multivariable newlineregression modeling technique. Model found 93.3% reliable for the simulated results. newlineIt has also been observed that belt
