Abstract: The aptitude to scrutinize the presence of biologically and envoirementally relevant ions is of key importance both in industrial applications as well as in physiological systems. Since the crucial recognition events of chemistry, biology, and materials science occur in a much smaller world, it is very difficult to gather this kind of information thus much effort has been devoted to the detection of cations and anions selectively and signalling this presence. During recent years, chemosensors have attracted the interest of many research groups. Most of the methods such as inductively coupled plasma mass spectroscopy [2], inductively coupled plasma emission spectrometry involve tedious sample preparation procedures, sophisticated instruments and high maintenance expenditure. newline
