Abstract: Urinary tract infections (UTI) are common, affect men and women of all ages, and vary dramatically in their presentation and sequel.UTIcan cause problems that range from dysuria to organ damage and even death. It is a worldwide problem. Urinary tract infections are notoriously known for the very high rate of recurrences and development of resistance in the organisms. The prevalence in young women is 30 times more than in men(Boscia and Kaye, 1987).Women tend to get more often because of their shorter urethra and closer to the anus than in men. Because of this, women are more likely to get an infection after sexual activity or when using a birth diaphragm for birth control. Menopause also increases the risk of UTI in females. Because of the absence of prostatic bactericidal secretions also it is common in females. newline
