Abstract: | In Ayurvedic literature it has been described that whatsoever diet the pregnant women consumes, the Rasa formed from the diet, perform three functions among one is for nourishment of foetus. Even now a days prescribing food along with few herbs is able to make great impact on the health of pregnant women. Ayurveda regards the women and her ability to produce and care for children as the basis of family life which is the very basic foundation of society. Because, if women of a society will be healthy, then only society will be healthy.Thus, Nutritionalstatus at time of pregnancy refers to adequate nutrition before and during pregnancy has greater potential impact for a long term health of a child.Care of pregnant women presents a unique challenges because both pregnancy and child birth, to a certain extent is an unpredictable process. It is common for pregnant women to experience associated unpleasant symptoms in pregnancy, caused by normal physiological changes. Due to high nutritional requirements during pregnancy proper nutrition can made a significant contribution in reducing the risk factor of abnormalities. Daily recommended nutritional requirements are folic acid, iron, zinc, Vitamin C, iodine, Vitamin A, Vitamin D and calcium. newline |
