Abstract: Seaport is seen as the epicenter for trade especially on a global scale. It pushes up the country s economy and leads to the development of a nation to a great extent. Further, the LPG (Liberalization, Privatization and Globalization) implementation and technology advancements in India have strengthened the functionalities of seaport to be relooked as an economical node. Increasing global market rivalry and the market demand are pushing the global trade flows. Countries have a rapt attention to increased and an advantageous trade flows to compete with the global economic battle. The advantageous trade flow refers to the delivery of goods and services with cost effectiveness. The sea transport is more cost effective compared to other modes of transportation. The sea transport works within a well-built network of vessels, ports, routes, and container allocations. The consumption and the economic growth of the country are highly interlinked to the capacity of ports to deliver goods. Geographically, the India is well located to elevate the economy through the port activities. Being a substantial field for sustainable socio-economic development, ports have a profound influence on the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of India. The port is a place with a necessary infrastructure to offer services to facilitate trade either internally or internationally. The seaport functions as a logistics service provider which mainly aims to promote International trade. Importers and exporters involve in trade activities through the agents assigned by them. The agents accomplish the trade activities through ports on behalf of importers and exporters. In a common parlance, port is also an integral unit of global logistics and shipping apart from facilitating the international trade. Logistics management is being a medium through which the trade and delivery of goods are facilitated.
