Abstract: The present effort of research proposes an analytical model for studying transverse newlinevibration of partially cracked symmetric angle ply laminated plate as affected by fiber newlineorientation (stacking sequence), crack length, volume fraction of fibers and plate newlineaspect ratio. The frequency of thermal environment has also been accommodated in newlinethe model in the form of thermal moment and in-plane forces. The in-plane forces newlineconsidered are due to rise in temperature. The hybrid laminated plate is considered to newlinebe made up of three layers of uniform thickness and has all edges simply supported as newlineboundary conditions. newlineThe governing differential equations of motion are based on classical laminated newlineplate theory. A partial crack is formulated as line spring model with bending, newlinestretching and combined stretching-bending compliances. The bending-extension newlinestiffness is zero owing to the symmetric nature of the stacking sequences considered. newlineIt is known from standard texts that the extensional stiffness is immaterial as the newlineequations are uncoupled for lateral vibrations. The lateral deflection is expressed in newlineterms of modal functions thus converting the system into well-known vibration newlineequations from which frequencies are evaluated as affected by temperature, crack newlinelength, plate aspect ratio and stacking sequence. newlineA classical relation for critical buckling temperature is also proposed. A first order newlineperturbation solution is presented for getting, studying and analyzing the behavior of newlinepeak amplitude and frequency response using the method of multiple scales. Results are newlineobtained for vibration characteristics as affected by crack length, fiber orientation in newlinelamina, volume fraction of fibers, raise in temperature and plate aspect ratio. The results newlineare further validated with the previous research work and are found in good agreement. newlineThis work is further extended for vibration analysis of a thin orthotropic newlinerectangular plate containing two perpendicular continuous line surface cracks located newlineat the centre of the plate.
