Abstract: The primary aim of this thesis is to employ the Dynamical Cluster-decay Model (DCM) to analyze, (i) the decay of compound nuclei to ground as well as excited state(s), including the isomeric, metastable state(s) of the daughter nucleus and, (ii) to study the effect of inclusion of additional degrees-of-freedom, viz., the higher multipole deformations and non-coplanarity in heavy-ion reactions. For the purpose, three compound nuclear systems, i.e., 202Po*, 117Sb* and 120Te* are identified for which experimental data for decays to both ground and metastable states is available. DCM is hereby applied for the first time to study decays occurring to metastable states via both hot fusion (48Ca+154Gdand#8594;202Po*) and cold fusion (113In(and#945;,n)116g/(or)mSb and 4He+116Snand#8594;120Te* ) reactions. Undergoing the treatment on equal footings (collective clusterization approach), a compound nucleus (CN) may decay into evaporation residue (ERs), intermediate mass fragments (IMFs) and fusion-fission fragments (ff). DCM is employed as a substitute for statistical models and/or other prescriptions where structure effects of compound nucleus (CN) play important role. newline
