Abstract: The word Radio is defined as the medium of sending and receiving messages through the newlineair, using electromagnetic waves. It has always been a part of our lives. FM radio broadcasting newlineusing frequency modulation (FM) technology and is very popular among the audience nowadays. newlineRadio, which began with transistors, now has many forms, such as newline Satellite radio , Internet radio , Commercial radio and Community radio . newline In India, the private FM broadcasting service has launched in three phases and now around newline381 private FM radio channels are operational in the country. These radio channels created their newlineown format for broadcasting which is entirely different from the Prasar Bharti owned radio newlinestations (All India Radio). Their main target of the programming is to cater to the young newlinegeneration. Radio Jockeys/presenters style, language, music, phone-in programmes, outdoor newlinebroadcast, Vox pop, on-ground activities, use of social networking platform, etc are the key newlinefeatures of private radio stations. These are informal in nature, on-air activity, on-ground activity, newlinetie-ups and other strategies are adopted so that, listeners must be connected with these FM radio newlinechannels. The radio presenters simplicity of language, catch phrases, instant prompting, the newlinepresence of mind and the sense of humour make them popular. Private radio channels have newlinecreated their own FPC (Fixed Point Chart) and CLB (Content Link Breakup) for presenting newlineprogrammes in different time band shows which format runs round the clock. Each time band newlineprogramme is different from others. Private FM radio stations are majorly focusing to develop newlinetheir own language standards to engage maximum listeners. newline newline
