The wireless sensor networks pace lay a vital role in many environmental applications A wireless sensor network consists of many different components of which a sensor node is an important yet small part Using wireless sensor node much different information can be collected handled and communicated wherever it is needed The characteristics of a good wireless sensor network include responsiveness reliability coverage connectivity cost power efficiency and lifetime of the network A wireless sensor network with these features can prove to be very beneficial and if not followed or ensured can result in a network that suffers from overhead thus negating its applicability Most of the sensor devices use batteries and the nodes are usually in remote places where it is very difficult to change or recharge the batteries Interconnected nodes Routers with a sink Gateway form a network The direct communication is established between source node and sink node and the communication between nodes can be done through intermediate routers with various hops A distant node should be able to communicate with the sink easily However the message transmission consumes more power Also the sensor nodes have limitations in their coverage area Hence to increase the quality of service coverage area has to be improved The objective of the proposed work is to reduce the number of routers maximize coverage and connectivity and reduce power consumption This effectively reduces cost and increase the lifetime of the networks newline
